Dr. Klaus Kolitz is leading the global Sixt IT comprising of more than 700 colleagues in Pullach, Bangalore and Kiev. He joined Sixt in 2019 as CTO and has since been responsible for driving the digitization and technical modernization across all areas. This includes rebuilding the majority of Sixt’s system landscape which has grown tremendously since Erich Sixt started programming the first lines of codes in the 1980s, and of course, Sixt’s own journey to the cloud.
Prior to entering the “Orange World”, Klaus worked at “trivago” which he joined in 2011 in the early days of the startup. Due to the significant growth of trivago he was given the opportunity to build up the entire engineering organization and shape the backend search technology as well as the customer frontend. Notable milestones include scaling the platform from 10 to 150 Million monthly visitors, bringing AI into the search and rebuilding the entire backend with new technologies into the cloud.
Klaus studied at KIT (Karlsruhe Institute of Technology) in Karlsruhe, Germany where he received his Diploma in Industrial Engineering (Wirtschaftsingenieurwesen). He then completed his PhD in information systems with a strong focus on electronic markets.
