Alban Schmutz is VP Strategic Dev. & Public Affairs at OVHcloud, one of the founding members of GAIA-X. Within GAIA-X he currently serves as Interim Deputy CTO and co-chair of the Policy Rules Committee.
Alban is also Chairman of CISPE (Cloud Infrastructure Services Providers in Europe, cispe.cloud), which created the 1st GDPR Data Protection code of conduct for Cloud Infrastructure services. CISPE is focusing on developing the best playing field for Cloud in Europe, addressing Data Protection, Cybersecurity, Reversibility or Climate Impact. CISPE is also a founding member of GAIA-X.
In addition, Alban is co-founder and Board Member of the Climate Neutral Data Centre Pact (ClimateNeutralDataCentre.net), a self-regulatory Initiative to make data centres in Europe climate neutral by 2030, supported by 20 trade associations and 35 cloud and data center businesses.
Together with the General Secretary of EuroCIO, Alban co-chaired of the SWIPO IaaS working group facilitated by the European Commission to develop the 1st industry code of conduct for porting of data for cloud infrastructure services to fulfill the Free Flow of non-personal Data Regulation.
Finally, he serves as board members of various organizations, including the SystemX Institute for Research and Technology, the Alacrité startup accelerator, Eurocloud France or Yncrea Ouest engineering school. Before joining OVHcloud, Alban started several companies in Open Source Services and High Performance Computing. He holds Master degrees in Telecommunications, Political Science and Entrepreneurship.
