The 2025 World Server Throwing Championship Delivered Thrills and Twists

Since its inception, the World Server Throwing Championship (WSTC) has whipped crowds into a frenzy of hardware destruction and community celebration. This year, there was also serious business to take care of: determining the unified Men’s and Women’s champions.

At CloudFest 2024, Bartosz “The Beast” Wojciak won the inaugural Server Throwing Championship, and thus stepped into history. However, the sport always moves forward, and records are made to be broken.

The 2024 Spanish Qualifier at MSP GLOBAL saw Dierk “The Machine” Zienicke throw so far that the World Server throwing Association (WSTA) had to designate a longer pitch. (We actually can’t let Dierk throw servers near any deep-water ports: he’s a one-man shipping hazard.)

This brought us to the 2025 World Server Throwing Championship, held at the world-famous  Europa-Park VIP parking lot Server Throwing Arena.

Day 1: Men’s Qualifier

March 18 was dedicated to the Men’s Qualifier, determining who would have to face The Beast and The Machine in the final.

Day 2: Women’s Qualifier, Grand Final

March 19 saw the Women’s Qualifier, which drew a huge crowd right away. Then it all came down to the Grand Final. In a major upset, Thom van Hal took the top spot on the podium with an eye-popping 13.18m throw.

Here are the full results:

Women’s Division

🥇 Alina Endrich – 10.15 m

🥈 Skaiste Daugmaudyte – 10.75 m

🥉 Linda Splitt – 11.10 m

Men’s Division

🥇 Thom van Hal – 13.18 m

🥈 Dierk Zienicke– 12.80 m

🥉 Bartosz Wojciac – 12.70 m

Next Stops on the World Server Throwing Tour

ooking ahead in 2025, you can expect another Server Throwing event at MSP GLOBAL 2025 (October 22-23 at PortAventura theme park in Barcelona), as well as CloudFest USA 2025 (November 5-6 at Ice Palace Studios in Miami). Ask yourself: are you ready to step into the Server Throwing Arena?

Server Throwing Training Program

Do you want to throw servers at a world-class level? Here’s a sample training routine you can take to your gym. Just be prepared for other gym-goers to gawk at your raw power and determination.

  • Cable rows
  • Squats to tiptoe extensions
  • Goblet squats
  • Squats to shoulder presses
  • Lateral raises
  • Cable twists
  • Planks
  • Yoga
  • Mindfulness meditation

If you’re too busy actually working in the Cloud industry to spend six hours a day in the gym, you can just do a classic training montage 20 minutes before the tournament. Suggested training montage themes include “Gonna Fly Now” from Rocky, “You’re the Best” from The Karate Kid, and “No Mercy” from Lionheart. “Hungry Eyes” from Dirty Dancing would be an interesting choice, but it worked for Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze, so maybe it will work for you.
